Chicken Wings are probably one of my favourite appies to get when I go out to eat. That delicious crispy skin with hot sauce. Yum. But you have to know that ordering those in a restaurant won’t be your healthiest choice. So I wanted to make baked chicken wings at home – where I can make these less of a guilty pleasure, and more of a healthy dinner choice! These turned out fantastic and, dare I say it, better than most I’ve had in restaurants! What’s perfect about these is that they’re baked not fried (way healthier method of cooking & no oily residue!) – but you still get that crispy texture that makes chicken wings so addicting.
My Crispy Chicken Wings are so simple to put together – no fancy batter and no big mess. Everything gets tossed in one big bowl and the chicken wings end up coated in Panko bread crumbs – which creates a beautiful crispy texture when baked at this high temperature.
The best (and least messy) way of cooking these is to use a roast pan (this is a great combo you can buy all-in-one : roast pan). Cover this in aluminum foil and place a wire rack over top. To clean up, you only have the rack to clean as the pan will have been protected by the foil. Cooking the wings on this wire rack really helps them become crispy. As they can cook all the way around – not sitting in their own juices, which can cause sogginess.
To serve these wings is all up to you! They can be tossed in your favourite hot sauce, or just served as is. There is a ton of flavour that goes into these before baking.
These baked chicken wings have major flavour and come out beautifully crispy from the oven.
- 15 wings and drumettes (mixed)
- 1 tsp oil (I use avocado)
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 cup panko bread crumbs
Preheat oven to 425°.
Prepare your roast pan: line with foil, then place wire rack over top. Spray this with cooking spray.
Place wings in large bowl. Sprinkle oil and spices over top. Mix well.
Sprinkle panko over top and mix until all wings are coated.
Arrange wings on baking rack.
Bake for 45 minutes. Flip once halfway through.
Toss in hot sauce or serve as is!
