Also known as, magic delicious sauce. This cashew based vegan cheese sauce is legitimately good on everything. Everything. Bowls, nachos, sandwiches and on. When I first changed to a vegan diet, I missed cheese. Dairy cheese was a big part of my diet before I shifted. And it was tough to let go of. Of course, I had a strong why that was leading to all my changes, but still, change isn’t always easy.
When I started making this recipe, the world shifted. Kidding. Kind of. This vegan cheese sauce is creamy, garlicky, and smooth. And it’s only 5 ingredients.
Now I pretty much always have a jar of this sauce made up and waiting for me in the fridge. I use it in burritos, on nachos, drizzled over bowls, with a simple snack like chips and salsa. It really is a versatile little sauce.
It’s pretty dang easy to make too. 5 ingredients in a high powered blender (I LOVE my little Nutribullet) and blend until completely smooth.
Then use to your heart’s content.

Vegan “Cheese” Sauce Recipe
- 1 cup cashews
- 1 cup water
- 1 clove garlic
- 1/3 cup nutritional yeast
- sprinkle of salt
- Add all ingredients into a high powered blender and blend roughly 1 minute until smooth.
- Store in airtight container in the fridge for about a week.
